    Traditional dancer Sarada Nori will be demonstrating Kuchipudi, a classical dance from Andhra Pradesh. Sarada Nori Akella is an accomplished Kuchipudi dancer with a Masters degree in Arts. She is a disciple of Guru Vempati Ravi Shankar. Drop-in, no registration. Sponsored by the Friends of the Russell Library.

    Traditional dancer Sarada Nori will be demonstrating Kuchipudi, a classical dance from Andhra Pradesh. Kuchipudi is known for its impressive, quick footwork, dramatic characterization, expressive eye movements and spirited narrative. Sarada Nori Akella is an accomplished Kuchipudi dancer with a Masters degree in Arts. She is a disciple of Guru Vempati Ravi Shankar. Dr.Vempati Chinna Satyam, Sri Ravi Shankar's father, is known for his single minded goal of establishing Kuchipudi as a recognized classical art form. Sarada has imbibed the nuances of kuchipudi at Kuchipudi Art Academy - Madras and Hyderabad for over 15 years. She has also been trained in Carnatic classical music for over 10 years. As a solo and a character artiste in Dance ballets, Sarada has performed at several events including the International Festival of Arts and Ideas at Yale. Sarada was sponsored by the Government of India to perform in Kuchipudi dance ballets in Singapore and Mauratius. She is a graded artiste on Doordarshan and performed for All India Radio. As the founder and director of Layavinyasa school ,she has been teaching in Glastonbury and Newington since 2012 . Sponsored by the Friends of the Russell Library.
